Hubbers Who Have Been My Support System: Installment Ten

Updated on April 2, 2013
A very happy Hubber
A very happy Hubber | Source

Time has arrived for one of my favorite weekly hubs, a chance for me to shut down the brain and write from the heart, thanking those faithful who have continually rewarded me with readings and comments.

As always I write with a tinge of regret because there are just so many who continually reach out to me, many times with comments that bring me to tears and always humble this simple writer or words. I always wonder how I’m ever going to get around to thanking everyone on an individual basis; until I figure that puzzle out it will have to suffice for me to simply say thank you, one and all, for making this old man very proud to be a member of this community of gifted writers and poets.

If I remember correctly I began on January 6th of this year, some silly real estate hub that barely passed the muster and was recognized by practically no one. My how times have changed! I have been accepted with open arms by so many of you and, if you follow me, you know that I am very sincere when I say that you have all touched my heart. I write with passion and there is passion in the comments I receive and for me that is what writing is all about. We have connected, you and I, on a much deeper level than I could have imagined.

For those of you who are writers such as I am, essayists really, constantly tiptoeing along the imaginary line between journal-writing and hub-writing, I want you to know that there is a market for people who write about life and the feelings attached to life. Find your voice, listen to your heart and be true to your own style of writing.

Shall we begin?

A BEAUTY BY THE NAME OF NARE

NareAnthony is the name she goes by on HubPages and I invite you to visit her site. She hails from Armenia and she is only twenty-one years of age and let me tell you, this young lady packs around a whole lot of wisdom for being only twenty-one.

That, in fact, is why I sent her a friend request. I read a hub of hers and realized that I had found someone of great depth who understood life far better than I ever did at that age. She has not disappointed me in the last two months, continually writing quality hubs and rarely missing one of mine. Give her a try; you won’t be disappointed.

NOT MARTY AS IN THE MOVIE BUT MARTIE AS IN SOUTH AFRICA

Read http://martiecoetser.hubpages.com/hub/Addicted-to-Love-a-poem-by-Martie-Coetser and you will be dazzled by the beauty of her words and in need of a cold shower. Just when you decide you have Martie all figured out then she will slap you alongside the head with some great humor and then you are back to square one.

I have watched Martie interact with fellow writers on Facebook and you can tell quite a bit about a person by that sort of interaction. She is well-respected by all and once you get to know her you will understand the reasons for that respect.

A LADY BY THE NAME OF AEVANS

She is a member of the HubPages Elite, has over 2,500 followers and has been around for over four years. Need I say more? Oh, yes, and she is my friend! Now that’s cool!

I couldn’t figure out which hub to highlight; she is such an eclectic writer that she jumps all over the board with her topics. I finally decided on this one _____ for no particular reason other than the fact that I enjoyed it greatly.

Do you want to know what amazes me about this lady? She has over 2.5k followers and she always manages to find time to visit my site and leave a meaningful comment. I think that speaks of the type of classy individual that she is.

PHDAST7

I happen to know what the PHD stands for and she is, indeed, a very intelligent lady who garners my respect for being a dedicated teacher. She is a professor of European History and as such her hubs are so informative, so well-documented and so fascinating that I usually have to read them several times to gather all the information that is in them.

Try this one on for size but put your thinking cap on first: http://phdast7.hubpages.com/hub/Grappling-with-Important-Questions-Genocide-Atrocities-the-Holocaus. No stuffed shirt here; she thinks my Google hubs are hilarious. Go figure! She is smart and has great taste. J

OLD ALBION

I know what the name means; do you? I can tell you his real name is Graham and he is a relative newcomer who deserves a much larger following than he currently has. Read about his family and some fascinating history when you visit his site. Here’s an example http://oldalbion.hubpages.com/hub/marchingforjarrow.

Graham is a man of intelligence and sensitivity, appreciative of life and a seeker of answers. The kind of man you would love to sit down with and spend an afternoon chatting about a variety of subjects. When I finally make it across The Pond I have quite a few like Graham to visit.

ZIYENA….THERE IS ONLY ONE

And she is special! I’m not sure if there is a more multi-faceted writer on HubPages. From beautiful poetry like this http://ziyena.hubpages.com/hub/Wild-Earth to stirring accounts of history, this lady has game and she can bring it.

If the picture on her profile is really her then she is way too talented for someone so young and quite frankly, I am green with envy.

Do not visit her site if you are looking for a lighthearted stopover when you have five minutes to kill. She is too damn good to only spend five minutes on. You have been warned!

MORE COMING SOON

But for now, that’s it for this 3rd weekend in May, 2012.

There are quite a few Hubbers out there who seem to be a bit isolated. Oh sure, they rack up a good number of followers and they make a token effort now and then to comment on a couple hubs, but for the most part they write and move on, never really making contact with the people behind the hubs. That seems oh so empty to me.

The beauty of HubPages to me is the relationship I form with my readers and the Hubbers I follow. I have become friends with many of them; they give me strength; they give me laughter; they give me love. I came here thinking it was just a writer’s forum and now, five months later, I have found it to be a place where friendships are formed that will last a lifetime. People from around the world read my hubs, not because they are obligated to, but because they genuinely care for me and supporting me is their way of showing how much they care. That, my friends, is priceless.

I hope all of you find what I have found on HubPages. Take a look at the Hubbers I have profiled in this Hub and stop by and visit the others in my nine hubs preceding this one. They are all worth the visit!
